Thanks for a great Booster Club meeting on Tuesday. I think it’s so important for the Booster Club and myself to be on the same page and have great communication with one another. The only way we can truly support one another is to communicate and make decisions together. I look forward to this relationship! As soon as I get the minutes, I’ll post them on the website.
Something I meant to talk about at the meeting is team readiness. I know many of you are worried about the teams readiness for the first competition. I want to remind you that our first competition is a regional. It’s not a big competition and I guarantee you that there won’t be many teams there. December is early in competition season and if teams decide to compete in December is it only to prepare them for the rest of the season. It will be great to get the girls out there in front of a crowd and let them see what it feels like to do their routine under pressure. It will also be great to get judges feedback on what we can do to better prepare us for the rest of the season. You don’t want State to be their very first time on the floor and this is a great way to get them ready. It’s not to discourage them, it’s to prepare them. You can help this process along by encouraging them at home!
I also want to reiterate the importance of keeping a positive attitude. Your children look up to you and when you remain positive, so will they. Negativity spreads like wildfire and it’s not healthy. Our character is so important and it says a lot about who we really are. I believe each of you want your children to grow up with outstanding character. In order to do that, we have to set the example. So please, think about what you say in the hallway. People hear you and it’s getting back to me. I want people to tell me what supportive parents I have behind me, not the ladder. Thanks for your understanding and willingness to support this program even if you don’t always agree.
Here is the Dress Rehearsal/Picture schedule again in case anyone needs it. Remember, it’s posted on the team website as well…
- Youth team individual photos will begin at 4:15. A sign-up sheet will be posted outside the gym door. Please sign up for the time you would like to schedule your picture. The youth group photo is at 5:00. Youth will then have a dinner break to go eat (BE CAREFUL IN YOUR UNIFORM!!) Youth will need to be back at the gym at 6:00 to begin warming up for rehearsal.
- Senior team individual photos will begin at 5:15. A sign-up sheet will be posted outside the gym door. Please sign up for the time you would like to schedule your picture. The senior group photo is at 6:00. Seniors will begin warming up for rehearsal immediately following their group photo.
- Tiny individual photos will begin at 6:30. A sign-up sheet will be posted outside the gym door. Please sign up for the time you would like to schedule your picture. The Tiny group photo is at 7:00. Tinys will begin warming up for rehearsal and their performance immediately following their group photo.
- At 7:30, all three teams will take turns performing their routines for parents and peers to see. Youth and Senior teams may go home after all three teams have performed. Tiny team will need to stay for their Rainbow Meet Performance at 8:15 in the main gym.
Hair and make-up need to be done before coming to dress rehearsal. Hair in a pony tail on the crown of the girls head. I will give them their bows this upcoming week. I’ll also be taking a photo of a closed eye lid on Monday to help with make-up.
Remember to bring a note of encouragement for your little/big sister. We will be handing those out at dress rehearsal. Encourage the Tinys for their performance that night and encourage the youth and seniors for their competition the next day. Big Sister/Little Sister information is attached and also on the team website.
Reminder that the Holiday Party date is Saturday, December 19th from 2-4. Hope to see everyone there!
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I’ll see everyone on Monday at practice. Tinys will have normal practice. Youth 4-6. Seniors 530-730. If you take Andres’ tumble class, you will stay until 8:00.
