Calling all Cheerleaders!

Hello and welcome to the Team Spirit of  Sun Country Website! My name is Coach Danielle and I am excited to be the new program director/coach for the Team Spirit All-Star Program. On this website you will find all the important information you need to know about our program as well as what’s coming up in the future. Please read on to learn more!

Summer Practice: If you are currently involved in our cheerleading program your summer schedule will remain the same for the entire month of August. Please attend practice as normal and email Coach Danielle at cheer@suncountrysports.com if you know in advance you will be absent. I look forward to spending the month building your child’s skills and getting them ready for the season!

Booster Club Information: If you are currently involved in our program and want to be involved with the Booster Club you have come to the right place. We will be having our first Booster Club meeting on August 11th (my birthday!) at 6:00 pm. Please come prepared to discuss the bi-laws, fundraising ideas, and community service ideas. Hope to see you then!

Placement Information: If you are considering becoming a cheerleader for Team Spirit or you are currently involved in our program and want to stay involved for the competitive season you have come to the right place for information! There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Monday August 31st at 6:00 pm where we will discuss placement clinics, costs for the season, expectations for the cheerleaders, projected competitions for the season, and answer any questions you may have about our program. We hope to see you there! Placement clinics will begin the following day on Tuesday, September 1st and run through Thursday, September 3rd. Clinic times are as follows: athletes 7 and under 4:30-6:00 and athletes 8 and up 6:00-8:00. The first two days at  placement clinics you will learn a dance, review jumps, practice tumbling, and be interviewed by the coaches to see why you love cheerleading and where you think you fit in our program. The last day of placement clinics will be your tryout where you will perform the dance, your jumps, and your tumbling skills in front of the coaches.  Team rosters will be posted on the morning of Friday, September 4th. Practices will begin the following week. Remember teams are made based on age AND athletes skills level. All coaches decisions are final.

Choreography Dates: Once teams are finalized, we will practice for three weeks as a team determining everyone’s strengths and building our team community. This is crucial to do prior to choreography camp so appropriate stunt groups can be made and to help us understand how to work as a team. Choreography dates are set for September 26th and 27th as well as October 3rd and 4th. Please block these weekends off in your calendar as it is mandatory for the entire team to be there!

I hope the above information is helpful to you and your family when considering our competitive program as a home for your child for the ‘09-’10 season. I look forward to working with your children and transforming them into strong athletes who can not only lead on the competition floor, but at practice, at home, at school, and in their community!
